Efficiency of modes
Cars are big given their capacity. Bikes are small given their capacity. Trams can pack so many people.
Converting one car lane into a bike lane vastly increases the capacity of the whole street/road (Bike lanes are cheap). Converting several car lanes into a tram line also vastly increases the capacity of the street.
